How to create a Contract

Upload the PDF, write the sending message, assign fields and signatures; the candidate form is created automatically.

Updated on Oct 12, 2026

To create a contract you upload the PDF, write the sending message and set up fields and signatures. Klaaryo creates the form for the candidate's fields on its own.

Where to find it: Pre-onboarding → Contracts → Upload contract

Before you start

  • Prepare the contract as a PDF.
  • Check the signature provider in Settings → Integrations → E-signature.

Steps

  1. Go to Pre-onboarding → Contracts.
  2. Click Upload contract.
  3. Upload the PDF file.
  4. Enter the Contract name (e.g. "Permanent employment").
  5. Write the Document submission message: the WhatsApp text the candidate receives with the signing link.
  6. In the document, under Manage document values, place the fields and set who fills them in: candidate or recruiter.
  7. Add at least one Signature field for each signer.
  8. Choose who signs and in what order. See How to choose who signs the contract and in what order.
  9. Save.

Good to know

  • If there are candidate fields, you'll see A form will be automatically created for the candidate fields. The form will be linked to the contract.
  • If all the fields are the recruiter's, no form is needed.
  • Without a Signature field for each signer, the contract can't be saved.
  • With YouSign, templates are managed on YouSign. Signers depend on the template on YouSign (see Template signers).
  • With DocuSeal, templates are built inside Klaaryo.
  • No dedicated message is sent to the candidate after signing.
  • You fill in the recruiter's fields when sending. See How to approve and send the contract to the candidate.
