Filters and evaluation criteria: how they work and how they differ
Filters exclude anyone who doesn't meet the minimum requirements; criteria give a weighted score with a minimum passing score.
Updated on Oct 12, 2026
Filters exclude a candidate if a minimum requirement is missing. Criteria don't exclude: they give a score that must reach the Minimum passing score.
Where to find it: Recruiting → Job roles → open the job role → Evaluation block → Edit. For a single campaign: campaign → Settings tab → Conversation block → Criteria → Edit.
The difference in short
| Filters | Evaluation criteria | |
|---|---|---|
| What they're for | Excluding anyone who doesn't meet the minimum requirements | Evaluating those who remain |
| Effect | Failing a single filter makes the candidate not eligible | Score weighted by importance |
| Example | Not available for weekend shifts → not eligible | Experience: more than 1 year = High, 6-12 months = Medium, less than 6 months = Low |
| Linked question | Required | Recommended |

Steps: set up filters
- Open the job role and click Edit in the Evaluation block.
- In the Filters section, turn on the ones you need.
- For a different requirement, click Add filter and create a Custom filter. Write the condition, e.g. The candidate MUST be available to work shifts.
- Link the filter to the question that checks it.
Steps: set up criteria
- In the Evaluation criteria section, click Add criterion (e.g. Experience).
- Link the question the agent takes the answer from.
- Describe the answers for the three levels: Low, Medium, High.
- Give each criterion a Weight (importance). The total must be 100%.
- Set the Minimum passing score (e.g. 60).
- Save.
Good to know
- The final score is the sum of each criterion's score, weighted by importance.
- If the weights don't add up to 100%, the app warns you and you can normalize the weights automatically.
- Each criterion has a percentage importance and three levels: Low, Medium, High.
- Below the minimum score, the candidate is marked not eligible.
- Use filters only for truly essential requirements. One filter too many rejects good candidates.
- Avoid giving almost all the weight to a single criterion: it skews the result.
- Test the setup with Test the conversation: once with eligible answers, once with not-eligible ones.
Standard filters and availability filters
- Standard filters (for example having a car, availability and age) have a linked question, which the agent asks the candidate. The question stays saved in the job role even if you turn the filter off.
- The availability filters you set in the app are also part of the candidate's evaluation.
Common issues
A filter doesn't seem to work. Check that it's linked to a question. Without a question, the filter isn't evaluated.
Too many candidates are rejected. Check which filters are on and whether the minimum score is too high. See also Why did the agent discard a candidate?
I changed the minimum score but candidates already evaluated keep the same outcome. Changes to criteria, filters and questions only apply to new conversations: anyone already evaluated keeps their outcome.
